Project Description
Client: Confidential Homeowner
Location: Coeur d’Alene, ID 83814
Project Type: Residential Site Development
Year Completed: 2024
Scope: Site clearing, grading & utility prep
Contractor: Peck & Peck Excavating
Peck & Peck Excavating was contracted to prepare a residential building site on the outskirts of Coeur d’Alene for a custom home construction project. The scope included full site clearing, precision grading, topsoil removal and stockpiling, storm drainage installation, and utility trench excavation. Our team worked closely with the homeowner and their builder to ensure the finished pad was perfectly level, properly drained, and ready for foundation work — delivered ahead of schedule.
The Challenges
This Coeur d’Alene site presented a unique set of challenges from the start. The sloped terrain required significant cut-and-fill work to achieve a buildable pad without compromising the natural drainage patterns on the property. The homeowner was also committed to preserving a stand of mature ponderosa pines along the north boundary, which required careful equipment maneuvering and hand-clearing in sensitive areas.
Access to the site was limited to a single narrow easement road, meaning all equipment staging and material hauling had to be carefully sequenced to avoid delays. Despite these constraints, our crew completed the work within the agreed timeline and left the site clean, graded, and ready for the foundation contractor to move in the following week.
