Peck & Peck Excavating was hired to prepare a raw residential lot in Hayden for custom home construction. The work included full vegetation clearing, precision finish grading, topsoil stripping and stockpiling for later reuse, storm drainage planning and installation, and utility trench excavation for water, sewer, and electrical. Our team coordinated directly with the homeowner’s general contractor to ensure the pad met exact foundation specs — ready for the concrete crew to move in without a single delay.

The Hayden lot presented challenges typical of North Idaho residential development — high clay content in the soil required additional work to achieve proper compaction and drainage, and the site’s proximity to neighboring properties meant tight equipment tolerances throughout the job.

Utility coordination proved to be the most time-sensitive piece. With multiple trades scheduled back-to-back, our crew had to complete trenching and backfill in precise sequences to avoid holding up the plumber and electrician. We pulled it off — finished on schedule and handed off a clean, grade-verified pad that the builder described as one of the best-prepped lots they’d worked on.
